Diagnostics – using Traction…

The BusNostics team concurs with the writer Gino Wickman in his book “Traction: Get a grip on your business”. He calls his approach the “Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)” – and leans heavily on the writings of favourites of the BusNostics teams such as Jim Collins (From Good to Great), Kenneth Blanchard (The One-Minute Manager), Dale Carnegie (How to Win Friends and Influence People), but simplified and packaged the approach to “get business traction”.

The system is built on six key components, which the BusNostics team will implement through a “Diagnostics” process. These components help to turn a company’s vision into action.

The six components of the “EOS” are:

VisionThis involves defining the company’s core values, core focus, 10-year target, marketing strategy, and 3-year picture.
PeopleThis focuses on having the “Right People” in the “Right Seats”. The “Right People” are assessed against the company’s core values, using a “3-strike rule”. The “Right Seats” are determined by an Accountability Chart and are filled by individuals who “Get it, Want it, and have the Capacity-to-do-it” (GWC). The “Delegate & Elevate” tool and three key questions (“Right Structure / Right People / Time?”) are also used.
DataThe goal is to track leading indicators and weekly metrics. This allows teams to compare their results to weekly goals and proactively anticipate problems.
IssuesCommunication about issues happens in a safe environment, with Issues Lists at different organizational levels. The “IDS” (Identify, Discuss, Solve) process is used to address these issues.
ProcessThis involves a three-step method. First, identify a handful of core processes, name them, and get agreement on them. Second, document who, what, where, when, and how for each process. Third, package them, often calling them “The ABC Way”.
TractionThis component links the vision to action. It includes a 1-Year Plan, 90-Day Issues Tracker, and Issues List. Traction also involves setting “Rocks,” which are specific, measurable, and attainable goals for a 90-day period.

The EOS steps are well described in their books, and is patented. https://www.eosworldwide.com
